Glossary CLEC
CLEC (Competitive Local Exchanged Carrier)
A CLEC is a new and completive local carrier that opposes the traditional carrier. Ma Bell was an example of he traditional carrier. When they were de-monopolized, this allowed smaller, more innovative companies to emerge. This usually has the affect of increasing service and ecreasing prices.
