Holiday scripting lets your AnswerConnect receptionists handle your calls differently during holidays or scheduled business closures. It helps your business maintain seamless, professional communication even when your office is closed. 

Instead of leaving callers with a generic voicemail or uncertainty, they’ll talk with a real receptionist who can deliver a clear, branded message that reflects your holiday hours, offers special instructions, sets expectations around response times, or even forwards urgent inquiries to your on-call staff.  

Important: You’ll work with our Client Services Team to create your holiday script. Once it’s set up, it will automatically go live on any dates you mark as closures in your account settings. This ensures your customers hear the right message every time, keeping your business consistent and professional.

How it works

Your holiday script is created in collaboration with our Client Services Team. They’ll help you write and set up a flow that reflects your business tone, holiday hours, and any special instructions for callers.

Once your holiday script is saved in your account, it will automatically go live on any dates you’ve marked as closures in the app. This ensures your customers always receive a clear, professional message that matches your office hours and expectations.

If your holiday hours or requirements change later, the Client Services Team can update the script for you.

Set your holiday closures in the App

You can set your holiday closures directly in the AnswerConnect app.

1. Open the desktop app > Go to Settings > Live Receptionist and choose the account you’d like to edit.

2. Navigate to the Working Hours tab > Under Closures, select the dates your business will be closed. You can choose from common holidays or add your own custom closure dates.

Once saved, these dates will trigger your holiday script after it has been created.

Create or update your holiday script

Important: All holiday scripts are created in collaboration with our Client Services Team. They’ll ensure your script reflects your business tone, holiday hours, and any special instructions. For example, your script might include a holiday greeting, call-forwarding instructions, or notice of any holiday-specific fees. 

Once set up, your script will automatically go live on any dates you mark as closures.

This takes 30 seconds to add to your script, but saves hours of confusion and keeps customers happy.

To update your holiday script:

  • Call the Client Services Team first (preferred), or email your preferred message or instructions.
  • To ensure your script is ready, please allow at least 3 business days for updates before your holiday.
